NBA Trade Updates: Potential Moves and Hot Topic Players Involved in Trade Talks Right Now
February 16, 2015
Now that we’re neck-deep in the NBA All-Star break, it’s officially time for the trade rumors to start flying around ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. We’ve got a fresh crop of news items to peruse this morning, so let’s delve into the rumor mill and see if we can get a feel for what could be happening around the league over the next few days.
Lance Stephenson’s name has been tossed around quite a bit when it comes to trade rumors this season in the NBA. He recently told the New York media that he’d love to play for Brooklyn, but by most indications that scenario won’t come to pass.
The Nets reportedly aren’t interested in acquiring Stephenson from the Hornets, and there’s apparently no market for him as far as trades go. It’s not really hard to see why, as he’s not quite playing up to his deal this season.
So, that means Stephenson will probably be staying in Charlotte for the rest of the year, barring an 11th-hour development. Look for Brooklyn to be making some moves as well.

Speaking of teams who are expected to make some moves, you can throw Philly into that category. Word is that they could be shipping Luc Mbah a Moute out of town for a draft pick and an expiring contract.
Their likely partners would be luxury tax teams, but don’t expect anything to get done for at least another day or two.
The Celtics have shown some interest in Jazz big man Enes Kanter, who is reportedly not too pleased with how things are going in Utah.
Boston may or may not make a run at Kanter--who they’d love to pair with Kelly Olynyk--but for now they’re keeping an eye on him.
One place that will see a lot of action and attention this week is Phoenix, who is currently trying to solve their three-point-guard dilemma. With Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas all clogging up the roster, most people are expecting the Suns to ship one guy out.
The Lakers and Rockets are both reportedly interested in Dragic, but according to some sources the team would rather part ways with Thomas. It remains to be seen whether either team would be willing to sacrifice enough draft stock or roster filler to get their preferred target.
The Heat’s Danny Granger could be on the way out in Miami; he’s reportedly been shopped around in proposed trade deals, which also included PG Norris Cole.
This seems to be something of a salary-clearing move for Miami, who would be on the hook for $2.2 million on Granger next year.
Possible trade partners here include Detroit and Charlotte, with Cleveland’s name being thrown out there as well.
The Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire is apparently done in New York. The team reached an agreement with him on a buyout, which will make him a free agent. Interested teams reportedly include the Suns, Clippers and Mavericks.
