NBA Trade Updates: Potential Moves and Hot Topic Players Involved in Trade Talks Right Now
February 17, 2015
We’re just two days away from the NBA trade deadline, and the rumors are flying around nonstop in the meantime. With that said, let’s take a look at some of the prevalent possibilities out there and see where some of the major names could be headed in the next couple of days.
There’s a lot of interest out there when it comes to the Nuggets’ Arron Afflalo. Now you can count the Oklahoma City Thunder among the teams who are interested in the guard’s services, putting them alongside the likes of the Bulls, Clippers and Kings.
Afflalo’s deal carries an option for next year. If he bypasses, he would become a free agent. He’s carrying averages of 14.5 PPG and 3.4 RPG right now.

So where will former Knick Amar’e Stoudemire be going now that he’s been bought out by New York? Sources say he’s most interested in the Mavericks at this point, though the Suns, Spurs and Clippers have also expressed some desire to sign him. The latest reports say that he’s already committed to signing with Dallas, however.
Stoudemire carries averages of 12.0 PPG and 6.8 RPG this season, and his bloated contract has been a point of contention among fans and pundits since he became a Knick.
The Nuggets aren’t doing so well in the win column this year, so they’re looking to gut their roster in an effort to build toward the future. Several options for trades and upgrades are in play, with center Jusuf Nurkic being the only player the team doesn’t want to part ways with.
In a related story, Denver has reportedly been talking with the Celtics about a potential deal for Ty Lawson, so keep an eye out for a potential deal there.
The Kings are exploring their options as well, and they’ve sent out word that guard Nik Stauskas is available for a deal. Sacramento seems to be in the feeling-out stages here, but if they get an offer they like it sounds like they’ll pull the trigger rather quickly.
Stauskas has 3.4 PPG and 1.0 RPG averages this year, which is his first in the NBA.
With all the talk out there surrounding a potential trade with Phoenix’s Goran Dragic, the Suns are going to be meeting with his agent today.
This probably bodes well for Phoenix potentially re-signing Dragic to a long-term deal. The team has shown some desire to retain him, though that still doesn’t solve their glut of talent at the point guard position. We’d imagine Isaiah Thomas will be shipped out in the next couple of days if anything.
The Mavericks are no longer interested in inking center Jermaine O’Neal, now that they’re about to land Amar’e Stoudemire.
The 36-year-old O’Neal hasn’t played yet this season after appearing in 44 games last year. It’s looking like his career could be finished unless another opportunity pops up.
