The Boston Celtics visit the Sacramento Kings on Friday in an interconference clash between rebuilding teams.
The Boston Celtics enter this game at 20-31 on the year with an 8-16 mark away from home. The Celtics are actually hot of late, with a 4-1 record in their last five. Most recently the Celtics beat the East-leading Hawks on an Evan Turner buzzer beater, so they will either be in form here or flat off of the emotional win facing an unfamiliar foe on the road in a different time zone. The Celtics’ rotation is in flux as Brad Stevens experiments with different rotations, but we do know that Turner and Jared Sullinger will be big components of the Celtics offense. The team may have a bigger defensive presence now s well compared to earlier this season given the addition of veteran Tayshaun Prince. For the season the Celtics rank 25th defensively while allowing 102.3 points per game.

The Sacramento Kings are 18-34 on the year with an 11-17 record on their home court. The Kings enter on a two game losing streak, and actually the team hasn’t had a winning streak since the end of November. DeMarcus Cousins continues to excel though as usual, averaging 23.8 points and 12.5 rebounds. Rudy Gay has been cold of late, averaging just 11.2 points over his last five, far below his 20 point average. Ben McLemore may be the player to step up though, after hitting 4-8 three pointers last time out, and going 3-7 from deep two other times in the last five. The Kings, like the Celtics, struggle defensively ranking 27th in the league while conceding 104.2 points per game.
In a battle of two struggling teams with little motivation, you could really get anything as coaches are looking to assemble next year’s team as much if not more than trying to win the current game. With all the rotation experimenting we’ll see going on here I see the game going under despite these teams being poor defensively. Probably not the best game to play on Friday’s board though so make sure to check in at the Premium Area for stronger plays.
