The New Orleans Pelicans travel to the American Airlines Center to battle the Dallas Mavericks tonight.
The surging New Orleans Pelicans will be looking to build on their current five-game win streak after beating the Nuggets by 99-92 last night. Tyreke Evans led the scoring with 22 points and seven assists, Eric Gordon added 18 points while Omer Asik added nine points and 16 rebounds as the Pelicans broke away from a deadlocked game with an impressive 34-27 fourth quarter effort. Ryan Anderson, Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis have all been out injured for a while now but that hasn't stopped the Pelicans from climbing up the Western Conference standings as they're now just half a game out of the playoff picture behind Oklahoma City who currently hold the eighth spot.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks will be looking to avoid a third straight loss after falling to the Nets by 104-94 on Saturday. Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 20 points while Devin Harris added 14 points off the bench, but the Mavs relied heavily on Monta Ellis who struggled his way to just 12 points on four of 16 shooting. Defensively, the Mavs allowed the Nets to shoot 51.9 percent from the field because they basically didn't have an answer for Deron Williams who scorched them for 25 points which was a little disappointing because Rajon Rondo was back in the lineup after serving a one-match ban but had little impact on defense. With the loss, Dallas falls to 39-22 on the season and 20-10 at home.
In ATS trends, the Pelicans are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games playing on zero days rest, while the Mavs are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five home games and 6-15 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the Pelicans are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and the Road team is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.
The betting public have been jumping all over the Mavericks to win and cover in this game and I was thinking about doing the same, but I just get the feeling that the shorthanded Pelicans will stay hot and at least keep this game competitive.
