The Los Angeles Lakers travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks on Thursday.
The Los Angeles Lakers were able to snap an ugly five-game losing streak with a 93-85 win over the Pistons on Tuesday. Jordan Hill had his hands full against the Pistons' frontcourt but held his ground with 16 points while Ed Davis added 13 points, but this game was all about defense and that's actually where the Lakers excelled in holding the Pistons to just 35 points in the second half, including just 11 points in the third quarter. On offense, the Lakers shot just 42.7 percent from the field but were able to keep the scoreboards ticking over by getting to the free throw line where they made 26 of 30. With the win, LA improves to 17-46 on the season and 10-21 at home.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks will be eager to snap a five-game losing streak of their own after falling to the Jazz by 87-82 on Tuesday. Alexey Shved had his best game as a Knick, leading the way with 21 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, Andrea Bargnani added 20 points and Cole Aldrich added 17 points and 13 rebounds off the bench but it still wasn't enough to get past the Jazz who simply executed better in the fourth quarter and escaped with the narrow win. Tim Hardaway Jr missed his second straight game with back soreness and is listed as questionable for tonight's game against the Lakers.
In ATS trends, the Knicks are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games playing on one days rest and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games against a team below .400, while the Lakers are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
Head to head, the Knicks are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Los Angeles and the home team is a perfect 7-0 ATS in the last seven overall.
You really couldn't be too confident about putting your money on either of these two teams tonight, but all the ATS trends are in favor of the Lakers covering the spread at home so that's where I'll be leaning once the line comes out.
