The Atlanta Hawks soar into Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.
The Atlanta Hawks have won just two of their last four games but looked seriously good in their 96-87 win over the Suns on Friday. Paul Millsap started the game red hot and finished with 23 points while Kyle Korver provided the late spark with a trio of threes to finish with 14 points, but this game was all about defense as the Hawks couldn't find a way to quiet the Suns all game until a dominant 31-14 fourth quarter where they forced turnover after turnover, reminding us why they have the number one record in the Eastern Conference at 51-14 overall.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have lost seven of their last eight overall and were beaten by the league-worst Knicks by 101-94 on Thursday. Jordan Hill led the way with 19 points while Jeremy Lin added 14 points and seven assists but it was clear from the second quarter onwards that the Knicks, led by 22 points from Tim Hardaway Jr were just hungrier for the win to give their coach the season sweep against his former team. We've become accustomed to seeing the Lakers lose games all season, but this was definitely one that they had to get after being competitive but mostly unsuccessful in their last eight games.
In ATS trends, the Hawks are 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 road games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record, while the Lakers are a perfect 6-0 ATS in their last six games following a loss and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall and the Hawks are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Los Angeles.
The Lakers haven't lost by double digits since losing by 102-86 to the Trailblazers back on Feb. 11, but you have to assume that the Lakers won't be able to hang with the Hawks in this one. I'm taking Atlanta to win and cover for sure.
