After a very busy evening of action last night, the NBA is hitting the brakes today, with just five games on the schedule. While we’re waiting on game-time, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations from around the league.

Magic-Blazers: There’s not a lot to be happy about in Orlando these days, but rookie Elfrid Payton is giving the team some hope for what’s to come. He logged 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 111-104 win over the Blazers last night in Orlando, helping the Magic break a six-game losing skid.
This was the second straight triple-double for Payton. He’s the first NBA rookie to do that since Antoine Walker in 1997.

Sixers-Knicks: The Sixers became the latest NBA team to steamroll the hapless Knicks last night, posting a 97-81 victory in Philly. Nerlens Noel managed 23 points (a career-high) and 14 rebounds in this epic battle of the two worst teams in the conference.
On the other side, Alexey Shved nailed seven 3-pointers and posted a career-high 25 points.
Philly is now 17-52 for the third-worst record in the league.

Nets-Bucks: If you like high drama in your basketball, this was the game for you. The Nets managed to eke out a 129-127 victory in triple overtime last night against the Bucks in New York, with Brook Lopez leading the charge on 32 points and a season-high 18 rebounds.
Milwaukee posted an NBA season-high 81 rebounds and 129 shots, but couldn’t find the win.

Cavs-Pacers: LeBron James came into this game with a head cold, but you wouldn’t know it from his 29 points in a 95-92 win over the Pacers. The Cavs have now won 15 straight at home.
