The Philadelphia 76ers travel to the nation's capital to take on the Washington Wizards tonight.
The Philadelphia 76ers have lost five of their last six and are coming off a third straight loss, falling to the Lakers by 113-111 in overtime on Monday. Nerlens Noel had a big game of 19 points, 14 rebounds and four assists, Isaiah Canaan added 18 points while Ish Smith had 17 points as the Sixers showed plenty of fight against the Lakers before falling right at the buzzer in overtime. With the loss, Philadelphia drops to 18-57 on the season which actually isn't such a bad thing as it really improves their chances of a higher draft pick in the upcoming lottery.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have also lost five of their last six games and will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 99-91 home loss to the Rockets where they fell behind by double digits early and never looked likely to come back. John Wall fought his way to 25 points, 12 assists and four steals while Bradley Beal and Otto Porter Jr. added 15 points each, but the Wizards could never recover from another ice-cold start to the game which had them running uphill all second half. With the loss, Washington improved to 41-33 overall and 26-12 at home.
In ATS trends, the 76ers are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games following an ATS loss and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. loss, while the Wizards are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 8-24 ATS in their last 32 games overall.
Head to head, the 76ers are 18-7-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings overall and 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington.
Despite their struggles, the Wizards really should have no trouble crushing the 76ers by double digits in this one, but the 76ers have only lost by double digits once in their last five games so I'm expecting them to stick around and cover the spread once again.
