The Phoenix Suns travel to the AT&T Center to take on the San Antonio Spurs tonight.
The Phoenix Suns have lost eight of their last nine and will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight loss after getting thumped by the Pelicans in a 90-75 rout on Friday. Eric Bledsoe had a nice game of 19 points and seven assists while Markieff Morris added 12 points and 11 rebounds, but the Suns could never get on a roll against the Pelicans' defense as they shot just 35.3 percent from the field and totalled just 34 points in the second half for one of the worst shooting nights of the season. With the loss, Phoenix drops to 39-41 on the season and 17-23 on the road.

Just a couple months ago, there was a bit of a murmur around the league that the Spurs were finally too old and wouldn't be a threat come playoff time, but they suddenly reeled off 10 straight wins to propel themselves all the way to fifth place in the Western Conference with a record of 54-26. In the team's latest win, Tim Duncan turned back the clock to lead the team with 29 points on 12 of 15 shooting including the game-winning block to give the Spurs a thrilling 104-103 win over the Rockets to seal the home-and-home series. Kawhi Leonard added 18 points while Patty Mills added a valuable 14 points off the bench, but what really did it for the Spurs was the strategy to repeatedly send the Rockets' Josh Smith to the free throw line where he made just 12 of 26, which slowed down the Rockets on the scoreboard while keeping players like Trevor Ariza and James Harden out of the game. It definitely wasn't one of the most entertaining games to watch, but it's that kind of cunning thinking that makes coach Popovich one of the best in the business.
In ATS trends, the Suns are 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, while the Spurs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 18-5 ATS in their last 23 games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings.
My first instinct is to take the Suns with the generous line, but it's hard to take the Suns when they have nothing to play for. Therefore, I'm just going to take the red-hot Spurs and just hope that they play hard from start to finish to cover this hefty spread.
