The New Orleans Pelicans travel to the Target Center to battle the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight.
The New Orleans Pelicans have lost three of their last five games and will be eager to avoid a second straight loss after falling to the Rockets by 121-114 last night. Anthony Davis led the way with 27 points on 10 of 16 shooting while Jrue Holiday returned to the court to chip in with 17 points off the bench, but the Pelicans just couldn't hang with the Rockets who just looked better and better on offense as the game progressed. Despite the loss, New Orleans is still in possession of the final spot in the Western Conference standings with a season record of 43-37.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have lost their last 10 games and are coming off a 110-101 loss to the Warriors. Zach LaVine poured in a career-high 37 points on 13 of 21 shooting with six threes while Andrew Wiggins chipped in with 17 points and nine assists, but it still wasn't enough to get past the league-best Warriors who were led by Stephen Curry's 34 points. As a team, the Wolves started the game red-hot and were quite competitive against the Warriors, but they were always long shots in this one, so in all honesty, it's actually quite an achievement to even finish within single digits against the Warriors at the Oracle Arena.
In ATS trends, the Pelicans are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games playing on zero days rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, while the Wolves are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 0-6 ATS in their last six home games.
Head to head, the Pelicans are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings but just 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Minnesota.
The Wolves looked pretty good in their loss to the Warriors, but the Pelicans really need this win to keep their hold on the last spot in the playoffs and I can't see them taking this game lightly.
