USA TODAY Sports
Position: Power Forward
Career Stats: 3.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.2 steals and 0.9 blocks
Strengths: Chris Walker is a long athlete who is explosive and jumps through the gym. Walker runs the floor well and is effective on the fast break. Walker is a good defender when engaged and a solid shot blocker. Walker crashes the glass well, especially on the offensive end. Walker has improved his mid-range game in a short sample size. Walker is great for put backs and dunks in transition. Walker has shown flashes of competitiveness and flare. Walker won’t force the issue offensively even though teams leave him open for the jumper. Chris Walker has tons of untapped potential and upside.
Weaknesses: Chris Walker has a questionable work ethic and has tested positive for drugs in the past. Walker struggles with his jump shot and has no real post up moves. Walker is very inconsistent and extremely raw at both ends of the court. Walker played in just 49 games due to multiple suspensions at Florida. Walker had eligibility issues and a lack of discipline. Walker needs to add bulk to his thin frame.
Projection: Chris Walker likely won’t get drafted due to him being so raw and having off-the-court issues. However, Walker has the size and athleticism that are very intriguing. Walker has the potential to be a productive player if he can just find a coach who is willing to put in the work and patience. I expect Walker to get an invite from somebody, and he could blossom into something if he’s willing to take the NBA seriously. Walker has too much potential and upside to just pass up on completely.
