Position: Point Guard
Career Stats: 11.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 5.6 assists and 1.5 steals
Strengths: Tyus Jones is a true point guard with terrific court vision and enjoys setting his teammates up. Jones takes great care of the ball, as he averaged less than two turnovers in nearly 34 minutes. Jones wants the ball in crunch time. Jones has nice touch around the basket and good body control. Jones usually always makes the right basketball play. Jones shot 88.9 percent from the free throw line and 37.9 percent from downtown. Tyus Jones has a great basketball IQ, works hard and doesn’t come with any off-the-court issues. Jones is a very confident player who plays with a lot of poise.
Weaknesses: Tyus Jones doesn’t have great athleticism and isn’t the quickest PG in the draft. Jones’ jumper is inconsistent and he could improve his range. Jones doesn’t have great size and will have to add some upper-body strength. Jones plays small and isn’t going to help much in the rebound department.
Projection: Tyus Jones isn’t a flashy point guard at all, but he’s extremely smart and can lead a team. Jones is also only going to get better once his jumper becomes a little more consistent. Jones takes great care of the ball and wants to set his guys up. Jones should be selected in the middle of the first round and could be extremely successful if put in the right situation.
