Position: Power Forward
Career Stats: 11.6 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals
Strengths: Kevon Looney is a very aggressive and alert player who makes his living on the glass. Looney is a very long athlete with good quickness; potential matchup nightmare. Looney finishes well at the rim and can play either forward spot. Looney has an inside-outside game, and he shot 41.5 percent from three on 53 attempts. Looney has good court vision and is a solid passer who has experience at the point guard position. Looney is a solid shot blocker with good timing. Looney contests shots well and is an active defender. Kevon Looney is very unselfish, works hard and doesn’t come with any off-the-court issues.
Weaknesses: Kevon Looney is a tweener right now who needs to add weight and muscle to his very thin frame. Looney needs to improve his mid-range shot and offensive game overall. Looney needs to learn how to defend without fouling. Looney can sometimes get careless with the basketball. Looney shot 62.6 percent from the free throw line.
Projection: Kevon Looney is extremely raw offensively, but his size, athleticism and things he brings to the table defensively really boxes the other things out. Looney is a versatile big who crashes the glass better than any player in this class and comes with a ton of upside. Looney should certainly be a top 20 pick and a guy who could contribute right away.
