Strengths: Cameron Payne is an intelligent point guard who makes the right basketball play. Payne sees the floor well and great basketball instincts. Payne has improved as a shooter and has NBA range. Payne can get hot from deep when he really gets going. Payne is creative off the dribble and finishes strong at the rim. Payne has great hands and feisty on the defensive end. Payne is extremely confident and plays with a swagger. Payne is a creative player who changes speeds well with the ball. Payne shot a solid 78.1 percent from the free throw line. Cameron Payne is a good kid with a strong work ethic and a leader on and off the field.
Weaknesses: Cameron Payne has a thin body frame and needs to add upper-body strength. Payne isn’t the most athletic point guard in this class and has limited leaping ability. Payne struggles finishing through contact. Payne averaged nearly three turnovers per game in his career.
Projection: Cameron Payne is one of the better point guards in this class and is easily a first round pick. Payne plays both ends of the floor well and has the potential to be one of those above-average scoring point guards that’s becoming so popular in the NBA. If you need a playmaker, especially at the point guard position, Payne is your guy.
