The Washington Wizards visit the Atlanta Hawks in Game 1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Washington Wizards come into this series completely rested after sweeping the Raptors in a surprisingly one-sided matchup in the first round. John Wall didn't exactly have the best shooting percentages in the first round but he did average 17.3 points and 12.5 assists while Bradley Beal led the team in scoring with averages of 20.8 points. Even Paul Pierce had himself a solid series, averaging 15.5 points on 57.6 percent shooting and he was even better from beyond the arc where he made a total of 14 of 24. Defensively, the Wizards held the Raptors under 100 points in three of the four wins and did a particularly good job of limiting the Raptors' Kyle Lowry to just 18 of 57 shooting for the series.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks were matched with the Nets in the first round and really found themselvse in a battle after the series was locked up at 2-2, but they managed to regain their form just in time and close out the series with a 111-87 blowout win in Game 6. Al Horford averaged 14.3 points and 10 rebounds for the series while Paul Millsap averaged 15.7 points and 9.7 rebounds, but the most consistent player was actually DeMarre Carroll who averaged 17.5 points on 54.3 percent shooting for the series including four straight games of 20 points or more to close out the series. As a team, the Hawks didn't look like themselves in the first four games of the first round but they looked like a well-oiled machine in the last two games.
In ATS trends, the Wizards are 6-0-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, while the Hawks are 22-8-1 ATS in their last 31 games against a team with a winning record and 2-11-1 ATS in their last 14 Conference Quarterfinals games.
Head to head, the Wizards are 0-4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the over is 6-0 in the last six meetings in Atlanta.
The Wizards will be fully rested coming off sweep in the first round so they'll be fired up for this one, but I still like the Hawks at home and coming off a clinical blowout win just a couple nights ago. I just get the feeling that the Hawks' ball movement and bench scoring gives them the major edge in this series opener.
