NBA Player Updates 5/16: The Latest News from Around the League, Weekend TV Schedule and More

The NBA is taking a short break from the 2015 Playoffs today, but will be back with one more matchup tomorrow. While we’re waiting, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats out there in the headlines.
Hawks-Wizards: We’ve now officially got both entrants into the Eastern Conference Finals. Atlanta was able to hold off Washington last night in DC on a razor-close 94-91 game, and will now move ahead to face the Cavaliers in the conference finals on Wednesday.
The Wizards very nearly were able to extend their season. Paul Pierce swished a last-second 3-pointer that both teams thought pushed Game 6 to overtime, but after review it was determined that he let the shot go a split-second too late--time had expired.
DeMarre Carroll scored a career playoff-high 25 points here, with 20 points from Jeff Teague and Paul Millsap.
Atlanta wins the series after trailing 2-1. They won three straight to take it in six.

Warriors-Grizzlies: Out West, we got our first entrant into that conference final as well, when the Warriors took out the Grizzlies 108-95 to take that series.
Stephen Curry logged a very important 32 points, including a 62-foot buzzer-beater at the end of the third quarter. It was one of his eight 3-pointers on the evening. He also had 10 assists for his first double-double of the playoffs.
The Warriors have taken their place in NBA history among the best-shooting playoff teams. They’re the first team since 1985 to nail 14 or more 3-point attempts in three consecutive postseason games.
The Western Conference Finals will begin on Tuesday in Oakland. The Warriors will play the winner of tomorrow’s Rockets-Clippers game.
