Strengths: Pat Connaughton is a tough kid and a physical player. Connaughton is a great shooter with a soft touch, and he has NBA range from deep. Connaughton has a quick first step, can get to the cup and finishes strong through contact. Connaughton can create his own shot and is a tough cover for most defenders. Connaughton takes great care of the basketball and has an above-average basketball IQ. Connaughton is a lot more athletic than you think, as he tore up the NBA combine. Connaughton shot 77.7 percent from the free throw line. Connaughton gives his all on the defensive end and has enough quickness to stay in front of better athletes. Connaughton plays with a ton of energy and inspires his teammates. Pat Connaughton has a great work ethic and comes with zero off-the-court issues.
Weaknesses: Pat Connaughton could put on some extra weight and strengthen his upper body. Connaughton isn’t a great rebounder for his size. Connaughton needs to be more aggressive on the offensive end, as he has above-average scoring potential. Connaughton is already 22 years old.
Projection: Pat Connaughton may have worked his way into the NBA draft after tearing up the combine. I liked Connaughton before the flashy numbers, as he’s a knockdown shooter and could really be a spark off the bench. Drafted or not, we haven’t seen the last from Connaughton, a guy who deserves a shot at the next level and could help a team as a quality role player.
