USA TODAY Sports
Position: Power Forward
Career Stats: 14 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.2 assists and 3.4 blocks
Strengths: Jordan Mickey is a long, athletic player with a wingspan of 7’3”. Mickey runs the floor well for a big and is effective in transition. Mickey jumps very high and has soft hands that help him clean up around the rim. Mickey doesn’t force the issue and has an above-average basketball IQ. Mickey plays with a ton of energy and can fire up his teammates. Mickey is aggressive at both ends and won’t take plays off. Mickey is a great defender and was one of the better shot blockers at the college level. Mickey times his jump well and can defend multiple positions. Jordan Mickey has a strong work ethic and comes with zero off-the court issues.
Weaknesses: Jordan Mickey needs to fill in his thin frame and add upper-body strength. Mickey needs to be a more consistent shooter and add range. Mickey is turnover prone, averaging 3.3 last season. Mickey needs to polish his post-up moves. Mickey shot 66.9 percent from the free throw line. Mickey will turn 21 years old in July.
Projection: Jordan Mickey is full of potential and should really blossom into something special once he adds weight and muscle to his thin frame. Still, Mickey can contribute immediately on defense and is only going to improve offensively. I see Mickey sneaking into the first round and being somebody who could have a long and successful career in the NBA with his athletic skill set.
