The Phoenix Mercury and San Antonio Stars play Thursday night at the Freeman Coliseum.
The Phoenix Mercury look for a win here to get a game above a .500 record. The Phoenix Mercury are averaging 75 points on 38.2 percent shooting and are allowing 74 points on 41.2 percent shooting. DeWanna Bonner is averaging 20.2 points and seven rebounds while Candice Dupree is averaging 16 points and 6.2 rebounds. Monique Currie is grabbing 4.2 rebounds and Leilani Mitchell is dishing 2.3 assists. The Phoenix Mercury have won two of their last three games and are getting it done offensively, scoring 78 or more points in their last three. However, the Mercury have allowed 68 or more points in five of their six games. This will be the last game the Mercury have to play without Brittney Griner.

The San Antonio Stars are still looking for a win after a brutal 0-6 start. The San Antonio Stars are averaging 68.2 points on 37.1 percent shooting and are allowing 79.7 points on 45.7 percent shooting. Jia Perkins is averaging 13.5 points and 2.5 rebounds while Kayla McBride is averaging 13 points and 3.8 rebounds. Dearica Hamby is the third double-digit scorer and Sophia Young-Malcolm is grabbing 4.8 rebounds. The San Antonio Stars aren’t playing a lick of defense, as they’re allowing 32.3 percent shooting from deep and has allowed no less than 72 points this season. The only positive for the Stars is that three of their six losses have either been decided by five or less points, or ended in overtime.
The Mercury are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Western Conference and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Stars are 14-3-1 ATS in their last 18 Thursday games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
Not sure how anyone can back the Stars given the way they're playing. The Mercury are starting to find their groove and have far more offensive weapons to win this game. I like Phoenix and the small chalk.
