The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers play a preseason game Friday night at the STAPLES Center.
The Denver Nuggets are just hoping to take that next step after back-to-back seasons of missing the playoffs. Last year, the Nuggets 30 victories were the fewest since their 2002 season. The Nuggets are desperate to find any above-average talent that can pair well with their star power forward Kenneth Faried. In the preseason, players such as Nick Johnson, Emmanuel Mudiay and even Gary Harris have a chance to provide a spark for Denver and shakeup a rather thin backcourt. The Denver Nuggets are rapidly searching for answers, as it wasn’t that long ago this was one of the more fun teams in the NBA to watch. The Nuggets currently have 10 players who are 25 years old or younger, so there’s certainly enough youth that should be eager to prove itself in the preseason.

The Los Angeles Clippers have to have NBA Finals on their mind after adding so much depth to their bench. With additions of Paul Pierce, Lance Stephenson and Josh Smith, the Clippers are one of the best teams in the NBA on paper. Add Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, and the Clippers are ready to take off. Of course, the preseason is about finding out about the other guys, and for the Clippers, that includes players such as Branden Dawson C.J. Wilcox and Cole Aldrich. The Clippers are now pretty much two-deep at every position, so making the roster and finding playing time could be rather difficult for the smaller names. The Clippers are one of a few teams in the NBA that doesn’t have a lot of questions as we gear up for the regular season.
The Clippers are at home, far deeper and will likely want to put on a show in the first preseason game of the season. I simply have no confidnece in a Nuggets squad that struggles at both ends of the floor and has so many question marks.
Give me LAC and the small chalk.
