The New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors open the season Tuesday night at the Oracle Arena.
The New Orleans Pelicans made the playoffs last season and now have a new coach in Alvin Gentry. The Pelicans have their superstar in Anthony Davis, a guy who is only going to improve under an offensive coach. The New Orleans Pelicans also have a healthy backcourt in Eric Gordon and Jrue Holiday, a duo that combined for 28 points per game last season. However, in order for the Pelicans to truly take that next step, it has to be more than the same three guys contributing, especially with Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole banged up. The Pelicans have talent but need to find some depth this season. Luke Babbitt is questionable with a hamstring injury.

The Golden State Warriors set the NBA on fire last season and hope to repeat as NBA champs. Besides David Lee being traded to Boston, the Golden State Warriors didn’t lose any production from a season ago. The Warriors have the best backcourt in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, while Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes are pretty established in their own right. Golden State also has a productive bench of older players, which includes Shaun Livingston, Andre Iguodala and Marreese Speights. Don’t be surprised if Festus Ezeli is the next guy to emerge for the Warriors. Bottom line, Golden State is loaded and should be considered the team to beat in the NBA. Andrew Bogut is questionable with a nose injury.
The Pelicans are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. NBA Pacific and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Warriors are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games playing on 3 or more days rest and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Pelicans are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
Would you bet against the Warriors at Oracle on celebration night?
The Pelicans are going to be a force this season, but it's impossible to bet against the Warriors in this spot.
