The New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks meet again to do battle at the Smoothie King Center.
The Mavericks were in need of a win after a couple losses in a row and they got that by beating the Pelicans 107-98 on Saturday. Deron Williams led the scoring with 19 points, Dirk Nowitzki added 18 points while Dwight Powell had 15 as the Mavs dominated the second half by 65-50 to get back to .500 with a 3-3 overall record. Chandler Parsons didn't look too bad as he scored six points but he is still on a strict minutes limit as coach Carlisle works him back into the rotation, while Zaza Pachulia continues to contribute, this time scoring nine points with 14 rebounds in 28 minutes of action.

Meanwhile the Pelicans have yet to win a game this season and will be scratching their heads about how they lost to the Mavs on Saturday. Anthony Davis led the team with 25 points on 11 of 19 shooting while Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon scored 21 points each, but it still wasn't enough as the Pelicans couldn't slow the Mavs once they got hot in the second half. Ish Smith started in place of Jrue Holiday who was rested for the game and shot just three of 14 for his seven points but he did add seven rebounds and seven assists. With yet another loss, New Orleans drops to 0-6 on the season and could easily fall to 0-9 over the next week as their next three opponents all have winning records.
In ATS trends, the Mavs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team below .400 and 5-13 ATS in their last 18 road games, while the Pelicans are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and 0-6 ATS this season.
Head to head, the Mavs are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall and 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in New Orleans.
The Mavs really sprung to life on Saturday against the Pelicans and I'm expecting more of the same as the Pelicans can't seem to win no matter how many points Davis scores because they are just lacking depth with players nursing so many different injuries.
