The Charlotte Hornets play host to the visiting Brooklyn Nets tonight at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
The Hornets have won five of their last eight games but will be licking their wounds after getting torched by a rookie in a 102-94 loss to the Knicks last night. Kemba Walker scored a game-high 31 points on 12 of 21 shooting, Spencer Hawes added 14 points and Jeremy Lin added 13, but the Hornets just couldn't find anyone to stop Kristaps Porzingis who poured in a career-high 29 points on 10 of 17 shooting. It was a tough night for Nicolas Batum who was very disappointing, scoring just four points while making just one field goal after pouring in a season-high 33 points against his former team on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Nets were able to win just their second game of the season last night by taking down the Hawks 90-88 in a thriller. Brook Lopez led the team in scoring with 24 points and 10 rebounds while Jarret Jack and Shane Larkin added 14 points each, but the Nets got a major scoring boost from Thaddeus Young who scored 16 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and two clutch free throws to give his team the lead and a win over the Hawks. Brooklyn is now 2-9 overall on the season and 1-3 at home.
In ATS trends, the Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last seven against the Eastern Conference, while the Hornets are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five home games.
Head to head, the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.
The Hornets are definitely the team in better form to start the season, but the Nets deserve a bit of credit for who they beat last night, so I think the seven points looks like the value bet in this one.
