The Memphis Grizzlies travel to the Smoothie King Center to battle the New Orleans Pelicans tonight.
The Grizzlies have quietly become one of the form teams in the Western Conference with seven wins in their last nine outings including a 92-84 win over the 76ers on Tuesday. Mike Conley led the scoring with 20 points, Zach Randolph added 17 points while Jeff Green and Matt Barnes chipped in with 13 points each as the Grizzlies pulled away late from the 76ers who really took it to them for three quarters. It was a bit of a sloppy game as the Grizzlies played down to the Sixers' level and committed a season-high 26 turnovers, but they got it together late in the game and pulled away with a 28-17 fourth quarter effort.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans are coming off their second straight loss by double digits, falling to the Jazz by 101-87 on Monday despite a game-high 36 points from Anthony Davis. Ish Smith added 13 points and six assists but no other player finished in double figures as the Pelicans shot just 42 percent from the field. Ryan Anderson is averaging 18.1 ppg this season, but has scored just nine points in each of his last two games despite playing close to 40 minutes each. On the bright side, Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole are both expected to make their season debuts for the Pelicans tonight which is a major boost for a team still 4-13 on the season and 1-9 on the road.
In ATS trends, the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 5-1 ATS in their last six against the Western Conference, while the Pelicans are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the Grizzlies are 2-7 ATS in the last nine meetings overall and 0-7 ATS in the last seven meetings in New Orleans.
There is no doubt that the Pelicans will be a much better team once Evans and Cole find their spot in the offense, but the Pelicans will remain a work in progress for a little while longer. Therefore, I'm taking the Grizzlies to stay hot and win another one on the road.
