NBA Player Updates 1/8: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
January 8, 2016
The NBA is cooking tonight, and we’ve got 10 games to look forward to. That should get the weekend started right. In the meantime, let’s take our daily look at some of the notable players and stats in the news.
Sixers-Hawks: Kent Bazemore had a formidable game last night against the Sixers in Philadelphia, helping Atlanta buck a two-game skid with a 126-98 win. Philly went on a 13-0 run in the third to get back into the game, but the Hawks were too much.
Paul Millsap and Al Horford each scored 18 points, while Bazemore posted nine points and two steals over the last 3:12 of the third to close the door on the Sixers.

Bulls-Celtics: Pau Gasol was on his game last night against the Celtics at United Center. He posted 17 points and 18 rebounds, helping the Bulls get the win 101-92. It was his 19th double-double of the season.
Derrick Rose helped out with 18 points, and Jimmy Butler posted a double-double of his own with 19 points and 10 assists.
The Celtics shot only 35.7 percent and were 5-of-25 from beyond the arc.
Rockets-Jazz: James Harden led the way for the Rockets over the Jazz again last night, scoring 33 points in a 103-94 victory.
Harden scored 30 in Monday’s 93-91 win over the Jazz in Salt Lake City, and it was more of the same last night in Houston. He missed all seven of his 3-pointers, but was 13-of-18 from the floor otherwise and hit 7-of-10 from the line.
The Rockets were without Dwight Howard, who sat out due to tightness in his lower back.
Lakers-Kings: The Kobe Bryant Farewell Tour continued last night in Sacramento, but the Kings got a win.
DeMarcus Cousins scored 29 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists here, but it wasn’t easy for the home team. Sacramento blew a 27-point lead in the second half, but gathered themselves for a 118-115 win.
As for Bryant, he had 28 points on the night, making 10-of-18 shots and 6-of-8 free throws.
