January 17, 2016
We have five matchups coming up in the NBA today, starting this afternoon. Let’s check out some of the headlines in our daily wrap-up before we settle in for those.
Celtics-Wizards: Yesterday’s Boston-Washington game was a real nail-biter. Jae Crowder lifted the Celtics to a 119-117 win with a go-ahead layup with just under four seconds remaining in the game.
Crowder would finish with 22 points, and Isaiah Thomas scored 32. On the other side, John Wall put up 36 points (a season-high) and 13 assists, but came up empty on the potential tying layup at the buzzer.

Pistons-Warriors: Golden State chalked up their second loss in the last three games with a trip to Detroit last night, losing at the hands of the Pistons 113-95.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope put up 20 points, offering a spark offensively on the other side of Stephen Curry’s 38 points.
The Warriors are 37-4 now, one win short of the best 41-game start in NBA history. That 38-3 mark belongs to the ‘71-72 Lakers and ‘95-96 Bulls.
Sixers-Blazers: The NBA’s worst team got a convincing win last night against the Blazers in Philly.
Jahlil Okafor posted a double-double on 25 points and 10 rebounds in the 114-89 rout, helping his team snap a four-game losing streak.
Richaun Holmes had 17 points, while Ish Smith and Robert Covington each logged 16. The Sixers are now 5-37 after their biggest win of the year.
Lakers-Jazz: Rudy Gobert was the star of the show last night in Salt Lake City. He posted 18 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks, an effort which helped his team cruise to a 109-82 win over the visiting Lakers.
Gobert is trying to get back to form after missing 18 games due to an MCL sprain.
The Lakers last led at 7-4, but a 26-5 spurt in the first quarter helped the Jazz run away with the game.
