The Line: USA All Stars -6 -- Over/Under: 273 See the Latest Odds
Team World and Team USA meet Friday night in the Rising Stars Challenge at the Air Canada Centre.
Team World will be led by Toronto born Andrew Wiggins, who is starting to come into his own his sophomore season for the Timberwolves. Clint Capela has established himself as one of the more underrated bigs in the league, and Mario Hezonja is having himself a solid rookie season for the Magic. Nikola Joki? has been a key player to the Nuggets success, Emmanuel Mudiay has turned some heads his first season with Denver as well and Bojan Bogdanovi? has emerged as a knockdown shooter. Trey Lyles will replace the injured Nikola Miroti?. Team World has a ton of international talent and a lot of size that should pay off in the paint and on the glass. Team World could have an advantage defensively in this All Star contest.
USA TODAY Sports
Team USA is led by the guy who may win Rookie of the Year in Karl-Anthony Towns, who is having an impressive season for Minnesota. Jahlil Okafor has been another rookie standout for the 76ers, and Rodney Hood is really starting to come into his own for the Utah Jazz. D'Angelo Russell has had his moments this season with the Lakers, Zach LaVine is a must-watch player due to his athletic ability while Jabari Parker and Marcus Smart have had solid bounce back seasons after being injured. Team USA has a ton of depth and experience, as seven of its 10 players are in their second season in the NBA. The experience and pride factor, as nobody wants to lose to a lot of rookie, may give Team USA the edge it needs to win this event.
Team USA has more talent, depth and experience, however, this is an All Star event, meaning it’s damn near impossible to predict what’s going to happen given the fact there’s little to no defense.
Still, even with limited defense, the total is way too high. Last year’s Rising Stars Challenge produced just 233 points.
I like Team USA to win, but I like the under even more.
