The East and West meet in the 2016 NBA All Star game Sunday night at the Air Canada Centre.
The Eastern Conference All-Stars are led by a starting lineup of Kyle Lowry, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. Key reserves for the East include, John Wall, DeMar DeRozan and Andre Drummond. The Eastern Conference All-Stars have a lot of size on their team and guys who can play above average defense. The East should have the advantage on the glass, but of course, there aren’t many misses or much defense played in the All Star Game. Isaiah Thomas will be the X-factor for team East, as he’s more than capable of providing multiple buckets in a row when he gets hot. Pau Gasol will replace the injured Jimmy Butler and Al Horford replaces the injured Chris Bosh.

The Western Conference All-Stars are led by a starting lineup of Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard. Key reserves for the West include James Harden, Chris Paul and Anthony Davis. The Western Conference All-Stars is loaded with elite scorers who can score from anywhere on the court and beat guys consistently on one-on-one play. It’s going to be a nightmare for team East if Curry, Klay Thompson and Durant get open looks for four quarters. However, you can expect Kobe to get a ton of shots in this game considering it’s his final All Star Game of his Hall of Fame career. The West is flat out loaded this season and is a nice favorite for a reason.
The West has beaten the East in five of the last seven NBA All Star games and it’s fair to say they should win once again. The East has a bunch of watered down all stars and not nearly enough elite scoring to keep up with the West for four quarters.
Due to little defense played, I like the over in this game. I also like the West to run away with it, as the East lacks the elite consistent shooting it’s going to take to win this one.
