The Minnesota Timberwolves invade the American Airlines Center to battle the Dallas Mavericks tonight.
The Timberwolves had lost four of six games before last night's 112-110 thrilling win over the Pelicans. Karl-Anthony Towns led the way with 30 points and 15 rebounds, Zach LaVine added 25 points while Andrew Wiggins had 20, including the game-winning free throws as the Wolves rallied late to steal the game from the Pelicans who looked like they had it won with a 12-point lead late in the third quarter. Despite the win, Minnesota is still only 19-40 on the season which has them at third last in the Western standings.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks really want to be piling on the wins as they charge towards the playoffs, but they've won just three of their last nine games overall. On the bright side, the Mavs are coming off an impressive 122-116 overtime win over the Nuggets in a game where they were behind by double digits for most of the game before they ramped up their offense in the second half and overtime. Chandler Parsons led all scorers with 27 points, Dirk Nowitzki added 20 points while Wesley Matthews had 17 in the win. Dallas is now 31-28 overall which has them currently at sixth place in the Western Conference.
In ATS trends, the Wolves are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest, while the Mavs are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team below .400 and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 home games.
Head to head, the Wolves are just 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall but a healthy 20-8 ATS in the last 28 meetings in Dallas.
These really are the types of games the Mavs should be winning easily if they are serious about being a contender but their form really hasn't warranted this much of a line from the bookies, so I'm taking the Wolves with the handful of points in a potential upset.
