The Dallas Mavericks look for an upset on Wednesday when they travel to the Quicken Loans Arena to battle the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Mavericks need to start stringing together some wins if they have plan to feature in the playoffs this season and they took a step in the right direction by beating the Hornets by 107-96 on Monday to snap an ugly five-game losing streak. Chandler Parsons led the scoring with 24 points, Dirk Nowitzki added 23 points while Deron Williams had 15 as the Mavs played with a great sense of urgency and jumped out to lead by 52-33 points at halftime. It wasn't the most clinical of wins as the Mavs let the Hornets come back and actually lead by 73-71 in the fourth quarter, but the Mavs would regroup and go on an 18-6 run to pull away and escape with the much-needed win. Dallas is now 34-33 on the season which leaves them in eighth spot in the Western Conference, two games clear of Utah who are in ninth place.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have won six of their last eight games but they'll be looking to bounce back after falling at Utah by 94-85 on Monday. LeBron James led the team with 23 points on 10 of 20 shooting but it was a rough shooting night for the rest of the team. Kyrie Irving shot seven of 23 for his 15 points while JR Smith shot two of 12 for his five points as the Cavs ended up shooting just 39.8 percent from the field and 10 of 42 from the 3-point line. Despite the shooting struggles, the Cavs were right in the game until they were outscored 24-14 in the last 8:56 of the game. Despite the loss, Cleveland remain atop the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 47-19 and a 2.5 game lead over the second-placed Toronto.
In ATS trends, the Mavs are 2-7 ATS in their last nine road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall, while the Cavs are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall and 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss.
Head to head, the Mavs are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Cleveland.
The Mavs really looked good in their win over the Hornets in their last outing, but the Cavs are on another level at the moment and will be eager to win big at home after falling to the Jazz on Monday.
