Our big NBA schedule is continuing tonight, with eight games on the slate. While we’re waiting on those tip-offs, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there in the news.

Thunder-Celtics: Kevin Durant showed off his skills in Boston last night, scoring 28 points with nine assists and seven rebounds in only three quarters of work. The result was a 130-109 victory for OKC, their second straight of 20-plus points.
Russell Westbrook finished with 24 points, while Enes Kanter managed 17 points with 12 rebounds. The team had lost six of their last 10.

Cavaliers-Mavericks: Kyrie Irving jumped into the leadership role for the Cavs last night in Cleveland, scoring 33 points against the visiting Mavericks en route to a 99-98 victory.
Irving made a big steal in the closing seconds for Cleveland, who was playing without LeBron James--he had the night off to rest.
Dallas came back from an 18-point deficit and had plenty of opportunities to take the lead, but couldn’t get over the hump.

Hawks-Pistons: Last night in Auburn Hills, the visiting Hawks were able to edge out the Pistons 118-114.
The Hawks’ final field goal came when Paul Millsap was fouled with 3:51 to play, but they were able to survive on free throws from then on out. Jeff Teague scored 22 here (and had two big free throws late), while Al Horford put in 21 points.
The Hawks have won six of their last seven and are just a half-game back of Miami for first in the Southeast Division.

Warriors-Knicks: The Knicks’ west coast trip continued last night with a trip to Oakland to visit the defending champions. Things went as you might expect, with the Warriors destroying New York 121-85.
Stephen Curry put up 34 points here, helping his team extend their record regular-season home win streak to 50 games. He shot 8-of-13 from 3-point range and 12-of-20 from the floor in total. He sat out the fourth quarter. The Warriors are now 61-6.
