The Portland Trailblazers invade the American Airlines Center to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.
The Trailblazers have really been in a slump lately as they've lost six of their last nine games but they will be looking to build up some momentum again after taking down the Pelicans in a 117-112 win on Friday. Once again it was the backcourt of the Blazers who did the most damage with Damian Lillard leading the way with 33 points and CJ McCollum adding 30 points of his own. Gerald Henderson provided the spark off the bench with 19 points and his contribution was key in the second half as the Blazers almost blew a 20-point lead in the third quarter, but they would regroup and escape with the win to improve to 36-34 on the season which is good for sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are in need of a win after losing seven of their last eight games which includes a 130-112 loss to the Warriors on Friday. Dirk Nowitzki led the team in scoring with 24 points with nine rebounds and four assists while JJ Barea and David Lee chipped in with 16 points each, but while the Mavs fought hard for three quarters, they just didn't have an answer for the Warriors in the fourth quarter. For the first time since Nov. 11, Dallas drops under .500 with an overall record of 34-35 which has them in eighth place in the Western Conference, just half a game ahead of Utah in ninth place.
In ATS trends, the Blazers are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games overall, while the Mavs are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last five home games.
Head to head, the Blazers are 3-9 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall and 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Dallas.
The Mavs really need to start stringing some wins together if they want to stay in the playoff picture, but they've been playing too poorly lately so it's hard for me to back them against the Blazers who have been the much better team lately.
