The San Antonio Spurs and the Charlotte Hornets do battle on Monday at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
The Spurs have won 14 of their last 15 games but none of those wins meant more to them than the 87-79 win against the Warriors on Saturday. LaMarcus Aldridge carried the offense with a game-high 26 points on 11 of 25 shooting, Kawhi Leonard added 18 points with 14 rebounds and four assists while Boris Diaw stepped into the starting lineup and added 14 points, but this win was all about the Spurs' defense which held the Warriors to their lowest point total of the season. Stephen Curry has been torturing opponents all season but the Spurs paid extra attention to him on defense and they were good enough to hold him to just 14 points on four of 18 shooting which was the difference in a close contest from start to finish. With the inspirational win, San Antonio improves to 59-10 on the season, good enough for second place in the Western Conference.

Meanwhile, the Hornets have also been in strong form lately as they've won nine of their last 11 games, but they will look to bounce back after losing to the Nuggets by 101-93 on Saturday. Nicolas Batum led the scoring with 24 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, Jeremy Lin added 16 points and Kemba Walker had 15 points and five assists, but the Hornets left themselves too much ground to make up in the second half after falling behind by 57-40 going into halftime. With the disappointing loss, Charlotte missed out on a key chance to climb the rankings in a congested Eastern Conference as they are currently in sixth place with an overall record of 39-30.
In ATS trends, the Spurs are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, while the Hornets are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600.
Head to head, the Spurs are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall but the home team is 10-4-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings.
The Hornets have been in season-best form lately, but they were disappointing in their last outing which makes it hard to back them against a Spurs outfit fresh off a win over the Warriors. I'll stick with San Antonio to stay hot tonight and win yet another game by double digits.
