NBA Player Updates 3/21: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
March 21, 2016
We have a nice NBA schedule coming our way this evening, with nine games on the slate. While we’re settling in and waiting on those tip-offs, let’s check out some of the notable players and stats in the news.
Blazers-Mavericks: It took overtime to decide this one, but the Mavericks were able to get past the Trail Blazers yesterday in Dallas.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 40 points, while Deron Williams tossed out 31 points with 16 assists. Williams nailed a key 3-pointer in the extra period, just before Nowitzki’s eight straight points. The result was a 132-120 Mavs win.
Dallas is 35-35 now and have the tiebreaker over the Blazers.

Pelicans-Clippers: Had things gone differently injury-wise for the Pelicans this year, we might be looking at a vastly different conference.
New Orleans got a win over the visiting Clippers last night 109-105, thanks to Jrue Holiday’s 22 points. Omer Asik scored 15 here (a season-high) and tied a season-high with 14 rebounds. Dante Cunningham also bagged a season-high with 19 points, as did Tim Frazier (17 points).
Bucks-Jazz: The Jazz are rolling a little bit recently, winning five out of their last six. The most recent came last night in Milwaukee against the Bucks, as they took it 94-85.
Gordon Hayward put up 18 points (13 in the third quarter alone), while Trey Lyles put up 14. Shelvin Mack doubled up on 13 points and 12 assists, as did Rudy Gobert, who had 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Utah stays one game behind the Mavericks for the No. 8 slot in the West.
Knicks-Kings: The Knicks’ west-coast road trip continued last night, and the result was basically the same. They lost 88-80 to the host Kings, who got 24 points and 20 rebounds from DeMarcus Cousins.
This was a season-best in points allowed for the Kings, and it wasn’t too difficult to get since New York was playing without Carmelo Anthony.
