The NBA is back with a vengeance tonight, with 12 matchups on the slate. There are some good matchups mixed in there, so it should be a good evening for basketball. Let’s check out some of the notable stats and players in the news.
Hornets-Nets: The Hornets bagged another impressive win last night, this one in New York against the Nets.
Jeremy Lin put up 21 points, while Nicolas Batum managed 23 in the 105-100 win. On the other side, Brook Lopez managed 29 points with nine rebounds and six assists (a season-high), while Sean Kilpatrick put up 25 points (a career-high)

Pelicans-Heat: Hassan Whiteside was on fire last night in New Orleans against the Pelicans. He nailed 10 of his 11 shots, scoring 24 points with 14 rebounds and three blocks.
The result was a 113-99 victory over New Orleans, with Dwyane Wade helping out on 25 points and Goran Dragic on 21. The Heat hve won nine of the past 12 games. They can potentially snag a playoff spot as high as No. 3 in the conference.
Rockets-Thunder: Is there anything Russell Westbrook can’t do? He bagged yet another triple-double last night in Oklahoma City against the Rockets, tallying 21 points, 15 assists and 13 rebounds in a 111-107 win.
That makes 15 triple-doubles this season for Westbrook. It’s the most since the 1988-89 season, when both Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan reached that mark.
Lakers-Grizzlies: The Lakers came into last night’s game against the Grizzlies as the losers of four straight. They were able to turn their fortunes around, however, with a 107-100 victory here.
Jordan Clarkson put up 22 points, while Brandon Bass managed 18 (eight in the fourth quarter alone). Kobe Bryant put up 20 but sat out the final 4:20.
