The Washington Wizards invade the Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.
The Wizards are desperate to fight their way into the playoff picture, but consecutive losses have them slipping in the standings. After getting blown out by the Hawks by 122-101 on Wednesdsay, the Wizards were looking to bounce back with a solid win, but instead their chances of featuring in the playoffs took a major hit as they fell to the Timberwolves by 132-129 in double overtime on Friday. Bradley Beal led the scoring with 26 points, John Wall had 22 points and 16 assists while Marcin Gortat and Nene Hilario had 19 points each but it still wasn't enough to get past the Wolves. With the loss, Washington falls to 35-37 which means they are currently 3.5 games out of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference with just 10 games left in the regular season.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have lost six of their last seven games and are in danger of losing a third straight following their 116-105 loss to the Nuggets on Friday. Kobe Bryant led the scoring with 28 points, Jordan Clarkson added 20 points while Julius Randle racked up a triple-double of 13 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists but it was nowhere near enough to beat the Nuggets who took control of the game with a dominant 34-15 second quarter. To rub insult to injury, D'Angelo Russell sprained his right ankle during the game and left the game without returning which leaves his status for Sunday and maybe even the rest of the season in doubt.
In ATS trends, the Wizards are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, while the Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a double-digit loss at home and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the Warriors are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Los Angeles and the over is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings.
The Wizards will be eager to win this one to stay in the playoff hunt and should be able to get the job done with the Lakers missing Russell.
