The Portland Trailblazers invade the Staples Center to battle the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
The Trailblazers were supposed to be rebuilding after shipping off four of their five starters but instead they were one of the surprise packages of the season, finishing with a record of 44-38 which is good for the fifth seed in the Western Conference. Damian Lillard led from the front with averages of 25.1 points and 6.8 assists per game, CJ McCollum had a great year with averages of 20.8 points and 4.3 assists while Allen Crabbe and Al-Farouq Aminu both finished the season with averages of 10.3 points per game. Portland will have to continue to rely heavily on their talented backcourt duo, but it won't be enough unless other players step up and contribute.

Meanwhile, the Clippers own the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a season record of 53-29 and they had to play most of the season without Blake Griffin who only just returned to the court after missing a total of 47 games in the regular season. Chris Paul led the team from the front with averages of 19.5 points and 10.0 assists per game, DeAndre Jordan averaged 14.2 points and 13.8 rebounds per game while JJ Redick averaged 16.3 points while shooting an impressive 47.5 percent from 3-point range all season but his status for tonight's game isn't set in stone just yet as he is dealing with a heel issue at the moment.
In ATS trends, the Blazers are 8-20-2 ATS in their last 30 Conference Quarterfinals games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall, while the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against the Western Conference.
Head to head, the Blazers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Los Angeles and the road team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Clippers owned the four-game season series against the Blazers by 3-1 so with Griffin now back on the court, there's no doubt that the Clippers are overwhelming favorites in this matchup. The Blazers have shown plenty of fight all season which is why their young roster made it to the playoffs, but I don't have this series going past five games at the most. I have the Clippers kicking off the series with a solid double-digit win at home.
