The Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat do battle in Game 2 tonight at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
The Hornets came into the playoffs with plenty of momentum but they didn't start their playoffs well and will now be looking to atone for their embarrassing 123-91 loss to the Heat in Game 1 on Sunday. Nicolas Batum led hte scoring with 24 points, Kemba Walker added 19 points while Al Jefferson added 13 points off the bench but the Hornets could never find their footing in the game after falling behind by 41-22 after the first quarter. The Hornets desperately need more production from Marvin Williams who scored just two points but looking at the reserves, players like Jeremy Lin and Jefferson both need to step up their scoring as well.

Meanwhile, the Heat will be absolutely delighted with their start to the postseason. Luol Deng exploded for 31 points on 11 of 13 shooting, Hassan Whiteside added 21 points and 11 rebounds and Dwyane Wade had 16 points with seven assists as the Heat busted out of the gates to an unassailable lead which allowed them to cruise in the second half. As a team, the Heat shot a blistering 57.6 percent from the field and their 41 points in the first quarter tied a franchise playoff record.
In ATS trends, the Hornets are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 1-7 ATS in their last eight Conference Quarterfinals games, while the Heat aer 7-0 ATS in their last seven home games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven Conference Quarterfinals games.
Head to head, the Hornets are 7-15-1 ATS in the last 23 meetings overall and the over is 9-0 in the last nine meetings in Miami.
You have to be careful not to overreact to what happened in Game 1 on Sunday, but it's hard to ignore just how dominant the Heat looked. I expect the Hornets to bounce back and make it a contest, but I'm sticking with the Heat to come out firing once again and extend their series lead to 2-0.
