The Golden State Warriors and the Portland Trailblazers do battle in Game 5 tonight at the Oracle Arena.
The Warriors were able to take a commanding 3-1 series lead thanks to a ridiculous overtime performance from two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry. Klay Thompson sunk five treys en route to 23 points while Draymond Green added 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists, four steals and seven blocks but this win was all about Curry who scored 17 points in overtime to finish with 40 points, eight rebounds and nine assists off the bench in probably the best overtime performance by any player, ever. The only real blemish from the win was the altercation between Shaun Livingston and the referee which led to a double technical and ejection.
USA TODAY Sports
As for the Trailblazers, Damian Lillard poured in 36 points with 10 assists, CJ McCollum added 24 points while Al-Farouq Aminu added 18 points with 13 rebounds as the Blazers led for the majority of the game and they actually had the shot to win the game in the last possession of the fourth quarter, but Lillard failed to get a clean look and it cost them the game as there was just nothing anybody could do to stop Curry in overtime. Overall, the Blazers really did play a great game to lead the Warriors for the majority of the game, but no one could have been prepared for what happened in overtime.
In ATS trends, the Blazers are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, while the Warriors are 7-0 ATS in their last seven home games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the Blazers are 17-35 ATS in the last 52 meetings overall and 6-20 ATS in the last 26 meetings in Golden State.
The Blazers put up a great fight in the last two games and they were so close to levelling the series, but with Curry healthy again, I'm backing the Warriors to seal the deal and finish off the series with a bang tonight.
