The San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder do battle in Game 6 on Thursday night.
The Thunder are now just one win away from advancing after beating the Spurs by 95-91 in Game 5 on Tuesday. Russell Westbrook exploded for his best game of the series, finishing with 35 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists while Kevin Durant added 23 points with five assists as the Thunder rallied in the fourth quarter to steal Game 5 and take a 3-2 series lead. Defensively, the Thunder really brought the physicality to the Spurs and it shows in the stats as they outrebounded the Spurs by 54-36 while holding them to just 39.8 percent shooting from the field.
USA TODAY Sports
For the Spurs, Kawhi Leonard led the way with 26 points on 12 of 21 shooting while LaMarcus Aldridge and Danny Green added 20 points each, but no other player finished in double figures as the Spurs constantly went to their two best scoring options in Aldrdige and Leonard early and often. The physicality and overall athleticism of the Thunder is really disrupting the usual flow of the Spurs offense and it's forcing them into playing more isolation basketball which is not what they do at all. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili combined for just 17 points and with the season on the line, I'm looking at one of them to step up in this one.
In ATS trends, the Spurs are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against a team above .600, while the Thunder are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team above .600 and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 Conference Semifinals games.
Head to head, the Spurs are 2-7 ATS in the last nine meetings and 3-12 ATS in the last 15 meetings in Oklahoma City.
A desperate Spurs team playing for their season is always a tough team to beat so it's no surprise that they've opened as favorites in this meeting, but I'm all over the Thunder to close the deal and take this series in front of their home crowd.
