The Golden State Warriors take a 2-0 NBA Finals series lead on the road to battle the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Many expected the Cleveland Cavaliers to play a tougher game Sunday then they did in the opener at Golden State but that didn’t happen and now they head home down 0-2 and looking for answers. The Cavs only hit at 35% from the floor with LeBron James held to a ‘mere’ 19 point, eight board and nine assist effort. The supporting cast that was supposed to supply the production to push the Cavs over the top never materialized as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love combined for 15 points while Richard Jefferson and his 12 points were second highest in the scoring column. The Cavaliers were also just 5-23 from beyond the arc which can’t happen at Golden State.

The most disheartening part of this series from a Cleveland standpoint is the dynamic duo of Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry have not ‘gone off’ in either game and both ended in the loss column. Of course, Warriors fans are thrilled because both games were won easily by double figures. Curry and Thompson combined for 35 points but Draymond Green was the star of the show with a game high 28 points on 11-20 from the field. Golden State was unstoppable from long range with an impressive 15-32 effort. For a lack of a better word the Cavaliers stars are being held in check while role players are excelling for Golden State.
I have watched both games and I admit in believing a healthy Cavaliers squad would be able to at least give Golden State a run for their money. I don’t know what to think now and in saying that I have to say my reasoning on this series has been off by my faith in Cleveland’s big three. I don’t know if I trust myself enough to bet this but this is how I’m looking at this game three now…
