The Cleveland Cavaliers look to keep their title hopes alive with a game six win versus the visiting Golden State Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors are not accustomed to being pushed around anywhere and that’s what we saw in Monday’s 112-97 defeat in front of their own fans which is unheard of. Klay Thompson did his best to carry the Warriors to victory with 37 points on 11-20 shooting with Stephen Curry checking in with 25 points. Andre Iguodala was next in line with 15 points, eleven rebounds and seven helpers but the bench was a non factor and it’s difficult to win with just three players providing the bulk of the scoring. The suspension of Draymond Green didn’t help but the Warriors 35.4% marksmanship was perhaps the biggest factor.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were written off for dead, facing a 3-1 series deficit on the Warriors home floor. However, without notice the Cavaliers looked like the 900 pound gorilla and dominated the second half on the way to a double figure victory with a chance to even the series at home and force a game seven. This was one of the more explosive performances by two players ever as Kyrie Irving and LeBron James who poured in 41 points apiece with James hauling in a game high 16 rebounds. Kevin Love who was supposed to be a big factor heading in to this series might be suffering from concussion issues but he might as well watch the game on television because he hasn’t done one thing.
I don’t think trends apply here and aren’t helpful. Cleveland needs another huge effort from James and Irving and can survive with adequate performances from the supporting cast. Golden State needs Thompson and Curry knocking down threes and also need adequate efforts from the rest of the team. I hope Cleveland wins this and captures game seven as well but first things first…
