France and Venezuela meet Friday in their fourth match of the men’s basketball tournament in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
France looks to keep the ball rolling after winning back-to-back contests. In the 76-75 win over Serbia, France shot 46.3 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from beyond the arc. France allowed 46.7 percent shooting from the field and 37.5 percent shooting from deep. Nando de Colo led the way with 22 points and two rebounds while Joffrey Lauvergne had 12 points and two rebounds. Nicolas Batum was the third double-digit scorer and Boris Diaw had nine assists. France barely escaped victory in its third match but is showing signs of being the France team we expected to see from the beginning. When France is moving the ball and getting contributions from everybody, this is a tough team to beat.

Venezuela looks to build on its first win of the tournament and get back in the race. In the 72-68 victory over China, Venezuela shot 45 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc. Venezuela allowed 49 percent shooting from the field and 18 percent shooting from deep. Nestor Colmenares led the way with 16 points and four assists while Gregory Vargas had 13 points and three assists. José Vargas was the third double-digit scorer and Miguel Ruiz had four rebounds. Venezuela has to feel proud after licking its wounds against Serbia and the United States and managing to bounce back with a hard fought victory over China. Venezuela now has two olympic victories all time and has a chance to take another positive step forward against France.
You have to like what Venezuela did against China and the no quit attitude. However, France is starting to find a groove and looking more like the team we expected to see before the tournament. France also has far more experience in big matches like this one.
Give me France for the victory.
