Argentina and Brazil meet Saturday in their fourth match of the men’s basketball tournament in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Argentina look to rebound from their first loss of the tournament. In the 81-73 loss to Lithuania, Argentina shot 37.9 percent from the field and 26.9 percent from beyond the arc. Argentina allowed 44.6 percent shooting from the field and 29.2 percent shooting from deep. Manu Ginobili led the way with 22 points and one assist while Andrés Nocioni had 14 points and seven rebounds. Luis Scola was the third double-digit scorer and Nicolás Laprovíttola dished three assists. Argentina is still in great shape as far as group B is concerned, but they obviously have to do a better job of putting the ball in the hoop. Argentina had a clear poor shooting night, something that wasn’t an issue in the first two games when they racked up a combined 184 points.

Brazil could use another victory after a disappointing 1-2 start to the ornament. In the 80-76 loss to Lithuania, Brazil shot 41.2 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from beyond the arc. Brazil allowed 51.9 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent shooting from deep. Leandro Barbosa led the way with 16 points and four assists while Marcus Marquinhos had 12 points and three rebounds. Guilherme Giovannoni was the third double-digit scorer and Augusto Lima had six rebounds. Brazil can’t afford any more tough losses if it hopes to advance past the group stages. Brazil has to do a better job of getting off to stronger starts, as it’s trailed after the first quarter in all three games.
Argentina is one of the better teams in this tournament and has the firepower and experience to make light work of Brazil. Even with the home crowd behind them, Brazil simply lacks the playmakers to take advantage of a lot of these clubs.
While a win would be great for Brazil, I can't pick against Argentina in this spot.
