The Los Angeles Lakers battle the Sacramento Kings in their first preseason contest Tuesday.
The post Kobe Bryant era begins as Los Angeles emerges from the poorest three years in franchise history. The Lakers aren’t going to suddenly make a postseason run but an improvement on last year’s 17-65 record would be expected by the fans and organization. The LAL picked Brandon Ingram second in the draft and he is expected to contribute immediately. Los Angeles also added Timofey Mozgov and Luol Deng through free agency in what many believe were poor and expensive additions. The Lakers need young players such as Larry Nance Jr., De’Angelo Russell, Ingram and others to make strides if the team is going to improve but this squad needs better performances at both ends of the floor.

The Sacramento Kings finished last season out of the playoffs with a dismal 33-49 record and the obvious question is whether the team has done enough to make strides towards the postseason. The problem is the roster doesn’t have very much star power except for DeMarcus Cousins who can do pretty much everything for the Kings but is still just one player and needs a productive supporting cast. It doesn’t help that Sacramento’s lone star gets upset, he is a pouter and that certainly won’t help the win column. The Kings need guard(s) that can hit from the outside, drive and or dish to Cousins (Darren Collison?) but the Kings talent is considered to be nothing special overall and an 8th seed in the playoffs looks to be a stretch.
The Lakers are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 road games and the under is 4-1 in Lakers last 5 Tuesday games while the Lakers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Tuesday games. The under is 4-1 in Kings last 5 overall and are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall while the Kings are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games. The Lakers are 1-6-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings and the over is 20-8-1 in the last 29 meetings in Sacramento while the Lakers are 13-6-1 ATS in the last 20 meetings in Sacramento.
