The Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors meet late Tuesday night in preseason action at the ORACLE Arena on ESPN.
The Los Angeles Clippers enter the 2016-17 season with lofty expectations, and coach Doc Rivers confirmed them with his comments that his team is just as good as any in the league. The Clippers starting five of Blake Griffin, Chris Pual, JJ Reddick and DeAndre Jordan stacks up with any in the NBA. In order for the Clippers to take that next step and win an NBA title, they must find depth to step up when those guys come out. This preseason, the Los Angeles Clippers need to find bench players who can provide a spark once in awhile and take some of the pressure off the all-star players. The newly signed Dorell Wright can shoot well from deep, Austin Rivers showed flashes during the postseason last year and rookie Brice Johnson is athletic and versatile. Somebody besides Jamal Crawford must show up.

The Golden State Warriors already have a preseason game played, which was a 97-93 loss to the Toronto Raptors. In the losing effort, Klay Thompson led the way with 16 points and a steal while Patrick McCaw had 11 points and four assists off the bench. Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant combined for 17 points on 4-15 shooting from the field. The Golden State Warriors know who their key players are and aren’t going to play them a lot in the preseason, as no starter played more than 19 minutes. For the Warriors, a team looking to win another NBA title, the preseason is all about knocking off the rust and finding a few bench players who can help replace some of the lost talent during the offseason. However, this game will be a little more fun for the Warriors with it being in Oracle.
The Warriors are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Clippers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Tuesday games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a road favorite. The under is 13-6 in Clippers last 19 overall.
This may still be a preseason game, but this is a big rivarly between two hated teams and you know the Warriors will want to put on a show with this being a true home game. I like the Clippers to compete with the Warriors in the regular season, but as far as this preseason game, I'll take Golden State and the small chalk.
