The Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers clash late Wednesday night in preseason action at the STAPLES Center.
The Toronto Raptors are now 1-1 in preseason action and are coming off a 108-106 los to the Denver Nuggets on Monday. The Raptors have looked sharp on the offensive end, as they've produced 203 points in their first two games and have racked up a combined 29 assists. Jonas Valanciunas has looked the best for the Raptors in the first two games, as he has 23 points and 16 rebounds in 34 minutes of action. Kyle Lowry is just 5-15 from the field but Terrence Ross has 34 points off the bench. The Toronto Raptors are getting contributions from guys not named Lowry or DeMar DeRozan, and that's going to be big if they’re going to make another deep run in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors are now 12-3 SU in their last 15 preseason games.
USA TODAY Sports
The Los Angeles Clippers are fresh off their first preseason game Tuesday night, which was a 75-120 beatdown by the Golden State Warriors. The Clippers allowed 71 first half points and didn’t show signs of life on the offensive end either. The few bright spots for the Clippers in a blowout loss included Marreese Speights producing 14 points and five rebounds off the bench and Alan Anderson scoring 10 points in 11 minutes. The Clippers starters combined for just 15 points and everybody played at least 11 minutes. The Los Angeles Clippers are playing a rare back-to-back preseason game, and while it’s just preseason, I’m sure they want to come out with a better effort and gain some confidence after such a poor showing on national television. The Clippers are now 5-10 SU in their last 15 preseason games.
The Raptors are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games and 13-5 ATS in their last 18 Wednesday games. The Clippers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and the under is 13-6 in Clippers last 19 overall. The Raptors are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings and the under is 11-2 in the last 13 meetings in Los Angeles.
The Raptors have been a great preseason team over the years and have the advantage over the Clippers considering Los Angeles just played late last night. However, the Clippers will be eager to bounce back after getting waxed by the Warriors. It's not not like the Clippers played their starters a ton Tuesday due to the blowout. So, in a toss-up game, I'm going to side with the Clippers at home to put on a bounce back performance.
