The Boston Celtics and Charlotte Hornets square off Thursday night in preseason action at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The Boston Celtics look for a bounce back performance after losing to the Philadelphia 76ers, 89-92. The Celtics were terrible on the offensive end in the loss, as they turned the ball over 16 times and shot just 40.9 percent from the field. The good news for Boston is that Terry Rozier had 12 points and two assists off the bench while Avery Bradley had 11 points and three rebounds. Al Horford had eight points and eight rebounds in his Boston debut and Marcus Smart scored double-digit points in 26 minutes as a backup. The Boston Celtics are one of those teams in the East with big goals, so the preseason is more of a fine tuning than trying to fill out a roster. As long as the veterans on this team are ready to go, the Boston Celtics will be in good shape.

The Charlotte Hornets will also look to improve after losing their preseason opener to the Dallas Mavericks, 88-95. The Hornets also had an issue putting the ball in the hoop, as they shot 36.8 percent from the field and made four of 22 three-point attempts. Roy Hibbert chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds while Frank Kaminsky III had 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Andrew Andrews had 10 points in 17 minutes off the bench and Ramon Sessions dished out four assists. Kemba Walker did not play in the loss due to knee soreness. Many expect the Charlotte Hornets to take a step backward after last season's success, so the preseason is a chance to silence some of those critics. The Hornets must be better on the offensive end if they’re going to make some noise in the wide open Eastern Conference.
The Celtics are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Thursday games and the under is 6-1 in Celtics last 7 overall. The Hornets are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games and the under is 5-0 in Hornets last 5 overall. The Celtics are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Charlotte and 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings overall.
Both teams were pretty bad in their preseason opener, so they'll both be eager for a bounce back performance. The Celtics are the better team here obviously and this isn't a true home game for the Hornets. I'll take the Boston Celtics and the reasonable line.
