The New York Nets welcome the Brooklyn Nets to Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
The New York Knicks haven’t played since Tuesday which is probably a good thing as they were crushed 130-103 at Houston and have a few things to work on. The NYK were shell shocked in the first half where they were outscored by 26 heading in to the locker room with both their defense hurting them for 48 minutes while the offense was actually good outside of a 15 point opening period. The Rockets burned the nets at 53.7% while New York was held to under 41% with a -17 on the backboards and the Rockets sinking 20 bombs. Kristaps Porzingis paced the Knicks with 22 points on 8-11 shooting including 5-6 from distance while Derrick Rose scored 16 and Carmelo Anthony, ten on 4-13.

The Brooklyn Nets are looking for another win after downing visiting Detroit 101-94 on Thursday where they had their defense working at peak efficiency where they gave up a mere 35 points. The Nets won the shooting battle 45%-43.8% with nine more threes and six more free throw to offset Detroit’s nine extra looks at the basket. Brooklyn received a game high 21 points from Jeremy Lin on 7-11 including 5-8 from distance while Joe Harris and Luis Scola tossed in 12 points and ten points respectively. Three others scored between 8-9 points but the real difference was Brooklyn was raining threes and went to the charity stripe more often.
The Nets are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 road games and are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall while going 1-7 ATS in their last 8 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game. The over is 5-0 in Knicks last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest and the under is 5-0 in Knicks last 5 Saturday games while the Knicks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game. The Nets are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in New York and the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in New York while the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
These teams are natural rivals so even though this is preseason I expect both to play hard but who knows who will play and for how long. Please check back when a line comes out…
