The Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks play preseason NBA Tuesday at the American Airlines Center.
The Oklahoma City Thunder will play their first preseason game against an NBA team after losing to Madrid and beating Barcelona. The Thunder should be excited considering they shot above 50 percent in both games and racked up 39 assists. Many wondered how Russell Westbrook would respond with no Kevin Durant around, and he’s produced 30 points and nine assists in 43 minutes. Victor Oladipo has 34 points and seven assists with his new team and Enes Kanter has 53 points and 18 rebounds. The Oklahoma City Thunder look like the same athletic and exciting team they were a season ago, but we’ll see how they are for sure after playing some NBA teams. Still, as of right now, OKC looks like a playoff team in the Western Conference.
USA TODAY Sports
The Dallas Mavericks have three preseason games under their belt and enter this matchup with a 1-2 record. The Mavs are coming off a loss to the Bucks in which they shot just 33.7 percent from the field and turned the ball over 18 times. Scoring has been an issue for the Mavericks in the preseason, but that hasn’t stopped Seth Curry from making eight threes and scoring double digit points in every game. Dirk Nowitzki has yet to play in the preseason. The main concern with Dallas is that Harrison Barnes is just 7-31 from the field and is playing with little confidence. If the Mavericks can’t get consistent play out of their big free agent signing, it’s going to be a long season for Dallas. The Dallas Mavericks have to show some glimmer of hope before the regular season arrives.
The Thunder are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Tuesday games and the under is 5-1 in Thunder last 6 road games. The Mavericks are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games playing on 2 days rest and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games. The Thunder are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Dallas and the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.
The Thunder have looked like the better team up to this point and have the athletes and youth to give the Mavericks trouble. While the Mavericks are at home, I'll take the better team here and the free bucket.
